The Jack Wingate Thursday Night Big Fish Tournament was won by Brandon Weaver and Kyle Bennett with a 6.13. Second was by Stacy Herald and Hunter Hays with a 4.99. Bass fishen is slow these days.
The Talquin Hookers Tournament was won by Shelia Brust with the most fish and Sarah Johnson with Big Fish. To me it’s quite interesting to note that Barbara Wachter is still a member of the Bassin Gals after many, many years. She operated a fish camp on Lake Talquin in the early days and was responsible for the ladies fishen Lake Talquin early on. She came to me upset one day because her girls’ boats were being damaged by the stumps on Talquin. I called Colonel Tom Larson, head of the Chamber of Commerce at that time and we took off to Col. Larson’s office on East Shotwell Street. She made her pitch to him and without me saying a word, he agreed to sponser a Bassen Gals Tournament here on Lake Seminole.
The Gray Memorial Bass Tournament is September 4th, the Media Bass Classic Tournament is September 11th and 12th, the Jack Wingate Open Fall Finale is September 18th. October is a full month of big tournaments for Lake Seminole, let’s make them welcome.
Bream, Shellcracker, Crappie and Catfish sure did come in good here this week. Many limits of first three and loads of Catfish came in.
One boat made a trip up the Flint River past Bainbridge and took some fine Shoal Bass. Other than that, the entire week has been slow on Bass fishen.
Cliff Straun with a nice mess of Bream he caught this week
Hunter Hays with his second place Bass that weighed in at 4.99 lbs
