Now that we have $855,000.00 for the drip system over in Spring Creek, to slowly kill the Hydrilla past Rattlesnake Point, where it is at this riten, it will most likely kill the awesome Hydrilla all the way down to Fish Pond Drain. We know, from past observance, it will not kill it out to the Flint River. This is good for the folks on the creek that owns property there, however, it will not help those out of the Flint River. We on the Flint will have to submit to the whims of the Corps to clear our coves of grass.

The first Jack Wingate Thursday Night Big Fish tournement was hosted by the Hydrilla Gnats Bass Club out of Wingate’s Lunker Lodge this past Thursday and $315.00 was paid out to Clint Brown for his Big Fish, a 6.09 lbs. Big Bass. Only the Big Fish counts, the next is this Thursday nite from 7pm to 10pm. Registration starts at 6pm in the restaurant here at Wingate’s. A great way to compete in a cool evening tournement. Give it a try, you might like it!

The big new floating marina in Bainbridge has now had its ribbon cutting and is now open to the river traffic on the Flint. Mrs. Sharon Jeter roat a very nice poem, “Sitten by the Flint,” very good I must say.

Many limits of Bass has been taken this week on Top Water Lures, some so big they took the lures and went west. Lonnie O’Neal lost so many lures he drove to Thomasville to restock his supplie of that one lure. Lots of other folks sed that the Top Water was the thing to use at this time.

Bream are still bedding many places, with Crickets being the bait. Our old and dear friend Al Carter took a limit of Bream on Crickets and 4 were up to 2 lbs. each. Oh how they must have pulled!

The Hydrilla Gnats, Mike Prindle, Paul Tyre and Andy Koundourakis has long hair down to their shoulders. In this hot weather they have to be in misery but it is for a good cause. In November they will cut the hair and give it to a wig company who makes wigs for kids who lost their hair due to cancer. Good Deed!! Nuf sed.

Bream has done good on Crickets this week. Some folks has taken big catches home with them, pitchen Crickets to the edge of the grass beds. One boat lost the last fish they caught while trying to close the lid on the cooler.

We had word from South Florida that the Talapia down there is treated as a rough fish & they are let to use a light and a gig to take them. Someone needs to make that decision – is it a rough fish or a game fish?
