We here at Wingates Landing would like to announce that the Me/Chi Bank of the Lower Creeks Native Americans will sponsor a “Pow-Wow” the 6th, 7th & 8th of November from 10 am to 4 pm each day here on the grounds. 12 venders will be available for the public to buy authentic Indian items, price will be announced later.
Last Saterday the Bainbridge Bass Club fished here at Wingates. Winner Cedric Suber had 5 fish at 10.08, 2nd was Richard Predmore with 5 at 9.36. He also had big fish at 4.19, 3rd place went to Lance Whiddon, 5 at 8.54.
The Bass Federation out of Sneeds went like this, 1st place: Ralph Moseley with 35.56 lbs., 2 day weight, 2nd place: Justin Willetts with 35.20 lbs., 3rd place: John Hendry with 29.28 lbs. The Big Bass taken on Saterday was an 8.24 pounder by Ralph Mosley. We don’t give the amounts of money, cause its not my duty to tell what and where the fishermen did what except to win.
Rod Benders of Inverness, a great small town on the west coast of FL, fished out of Wingate’s this weekend. Louis Bredice had 12.13. Curt Bond 12.04, Jeff Patton 9.5. Louis Bredice had the big fish at 5.9. These folks fish the waters of the Isack Walden Lodge on the Withlacoochee. Many years ago, after a great breakfast of fresh trout eggs and bacon we fished the salt water end of the river but the wind kept us inside and up river to the fresh water of the Isaak Walton Lodge, I was so pleased to be allowed to do 2 days of the salt water fishen that I had never been able to do since my navy days. I have just learned that the Isack Walden Lodge, burnt down, “it was built of fat pine and a lot of fine finish wood and it burnt very fast.” I was one of the last to stay in its great rooms.
It came to my mind that it ain’t what I ain’t got that I miss, “its what I have that I cherish.” Tite lines and good luck and I’ll try to see you next week.
