We at Wingate's Lunker Lodge want to congratulate our local Hydrilla Gnats Bass Club for a good win on Lake Wheeler in north Alabama. They will advance to the next level, which is the BASS Federation Nation's 6 - man Team World Championship. We also congratulate Sgt. Rich Moulder, just back from Iraq for his 2 - 8 pounders on Crank Baits. 11 Bass was also taken out of schools at 12 noon with stiff Jerk Baits.
We had a 3 pound Peacock Bass taken on the lake, now that is an oddball if I ever heard one. We looked up the Americanrecord and its 9 lbs. taken on Big Lake Toho down in Florida.
There was several Spoonbill Catfish taken on the Apalachicola River this week. They may have got in the Flint River when the'94 flood covered the fish ponds at Newton, GA, there was some in a pond there. Then, near Attapulgus, GA, a fishfarm there had Talapia in it and the same flood overran the pens andcages. They went in to the Ochlocknee and could have worked their way over to the Apalachicola River and up through the dam.
The Bream fishing has been fantastic. This week many limits were taken on Crickets. The best, I think, was 175 Bream, on Crickets, by noon by 4 Bainbridge school teachers. What a pile of fish.
Jerry Cooper twict this week limited on his Fly Rod. He likes the Fly-Rod and so do I.
A nice tournement was held here by the Talquin Hookers. Mrs. Mercer Brown won first place with 16.21 lbs. and Margaret Hiers had theBig Fish, a whopping big 5.28 lbs. All the girls had a good time, but it was hot and the gnats were out. All but one lady had fish and 3 big ones was weighed in.
