Seminole Ramlin's October 14, 2007 Lots of strange things has happened since you last saw this column. First, every fire ant bed you see has been built up 6 to 8 inches above the ground, that is a sure sign of water. Then on 2 occasions this week I have seen Mocking Birds gathering worms and ducking into trees feeding their young. Then watching Mama Squirrel building her nest pretty doggone thick. That could be cold weather or rain, but the Mocking Birds stump me to no end. Seems like they are out of season. However, I do know that Honey Bees and Yellow Jackets are out getting their last taste of nector before winter sets in, we’ll see what it all means. On the 20th of October the Florida Federation Tournament will go out of Sneads Landing. 5 days later the Walmart B.F.L. goes out of the Boat Basin Park in Bainbridge, a 3 day event. Many boats will be there and at Sneads. Good for biznis. One man took 6 Talapia on Dow Balls and Worms as they past this dock over in Spring Creek. They were in the 3 to 4 lbs. class. More and more are being taken in the Spring Creek area. “Harry & Charlie” our Louisville, KY friends who are staying 2 weeks with us has reprieved themselves, they are now catching a few good Bass each day on Plastic. Another boat reported 8 good Bass taken on Plastic. Another boat reported an OK trip, nuthin big, all on Plastic. And another boat reported lots of small fish taken on Flippin in shallow water. The Hydrilla Gnats fished Lake Talquin Sunday with good results. Sean Neel won it with 6.5 lbs., William “Gizmo” Roton took second with 5.67 lbs., Paul Tyre took third with 5.5 lbs. and Andy Kounderakis came in fourth with 5.25 lbs. The Big Bend Bass Club fished on Sunday with Eddie Ditto taking 1st Place, Big Bass of the year and Angler of the Year. Phillip Barber came in second. Word comes to us that a big slug of muddy water is coming down Spring Creek, but it will filter out before it gets to Rattle Snake Point. The
picture is of Miss Emily Straughn who came out with her dad to test
out his depthfinder
