This has been an exsiting week for the Bass Fisherman. 2 – 9 pounders have been reported. These came on Top Water & Spinner Baits. Mr. Johnny Davis of Recovery, GA had a 5 ½ pounder. Pat Cutrite also of Recovery had one of the 9 pounders, his came on a Spinner Bait.

Kent Olson of Tallahassee won the Tallahassee Hawg Hunters Tournement and had the Big Fish of that tourney with a 5.12 lbs Bass. What a nice bunch of guys in a nice club. We sure enjoy having them here at Wingates. They’ll help you if they can.

The Lady Bass Club, (The Talquin Hookers) fished out of Wingate’s with good results. Sarah Johnson of Recovery came in third, Lonnie Walsh of Coon Bottom, FL came in second and Toni Scott of Woodville, FL won the event with 8.22 lbs and had the Big Fish, a whopping 4.5 pounder. Mrs. Scott is a hard fisherman and Saterday was her 60th birthday. In my book that’s a good birthday present. We must take this time to tell you just how pretty and clean of fungus the fish are. There is so many Shad in the lake I guess that cleans them.

The wind has kept most of the Bream and Cat Fishermen as well as the Perch Fishermen. When it’s coming in the boat with you, the lake is too rough to fish. However, on 2 occasions this week, a couple of good catches of Perch was taken on Minnows. One good catch came on Jigs on a calm day.

The first picture is of Ken Olson, from Tallahassee with a 6 pounder he caught on Saturday to win the Tallahassee Hawg Hunters Tournament held out of Wingates.

The second picture is of Toni Scott from Tallahassee, FL who on her birthday caught this huge 4 ½ pound Bass to win the Talquin Hooker’s Tournament and Big Fish award on Saturday out of Wingate’s.
