Seminole Ramlin's September 24, 2006 This week a gentleman, who lives on over on Spring Creek, brought a very nice size “Talapia” fish for us to look at and tell them what it was. Spring Creek has many of those fish in it and they are a good eating fish. There could be some up to 4 lbs. in there. He sed his wife had the pull of her life on a cane pole. These fish is the most used fish for food (fresh water) in the world. The figers show that near 70% of the world eats this fish. He is known as the “Nile Perch”. A very good fish to fry or bake. We have newcomers moving into the lake area that cain’t believe how many salt water fish there is in the lake. To name a few, Needle Fish, Mullet, Small Flounder, an occasional Shark and Small Tarpin. Our week has been a slow one as far as Bass goes. Some of the top “Guns” on the lake say that a few bites can be had up until 9am and after that is a very slow go. However, Bream and Catfish is the main meat fish this week. Mrs. Bush says she got a very big Shellcracker in the 3 lbs. class, a 3 pounder is a very goodun. This past Friday 83 Bream was taken by noon on Crickets, another boat reported 40 Bream on Worms and 43 Channel Catfish taken on Worms. For those that don’t know, Pam Martin-Wells will fish Lake Mitchell and the men will fish Lay Lake February 22 & 25 in Birmingham. Sorry, no pictures this week.
