Seminole Ramlin's January 2, 2005 Mrs. Betty Hobbs fixed my goose this past week. One of the three big storms we had hi winds off of pushed a 20 foot log up the channel from the main lake and I had cranked Old Red up for a trip out on the lake, so I flipped a loop over the end of it and slowly began towing it back out the channel. When Mrs. Hobbs and her husband, Chris, past me, she hollered and sed, “What you doin’, trolling for Beaver?” That was a good one on me and I enjoyed it. According to the news I got, “Fishers of Men” will be here January 15th, then the Bulldog Division of the BFL Tournament Series will be here at Wingates on February 5th. The Florida Division of B.A.S.S. will be here on February 20th, then the Georgia Division of B.A.S.S. will be here on the 27th. This accounts for all the boats testing for Bass in the up and coming month or two. We sure hope the Bass wake up to the bite pretty soon. It’s been slow as writen home for money. We still have no news as to the Bobby Dews Tournement, when, where or what have you. The “Fishermen for the Hungry” Tournament will be here at Wingates on February 26th. It is a charity tournament that does a lot of good for folks. The Specks and Catfish has been our bread and butter this week. The boats trollin has realy caught some nice Perch. A father and son team with wives has brought to the shore some 45 nice Perch, another boat with 3 men in it brought in some 80 Perch. The Catfish, specially the Squeelers done good. Some rite nice Flat Heads took bait and wuz brought in. I do declare that Duck Hunters do have the worst luck, Tuesday. One stuck his finger in the flywheel of his engine and got it cut clean off. Now this Friday, 2 or 3 was midnite getting off the Lake due to motor trubles. And Saterday, a duck boat hit a stump and ripped out the transom of the boat. Did not sink, but like to have. Then we had a fishing boat put in at Cheney Griffen Park and as he was leaving his foot slipped off of the brake and in the water the truck went. Divers and a wrecker was called. Have a good New Year.
The picture is of Kent Thorton and John Moore from Valdosta on Saturday with some nice Bass.
