Seminole Ramlin's

October 24, 2004

The new Corp of Engineer ruling is that Gwinnett County, GA cannot take water from the Chattahoochee without a permit and they do not have one. Be a good thing if the Federal Judge up there would side with the Corps instead of the “State of Atlanta.” While on the water wars note, we see that Lake Blackshear up stream near Cordele, GA is being lowered for a period of time in the winter. First so folks can rebuild their docks and letting the frost and freezing kill the aquatic weeds.

Mr. Ray Davis, our Grady Co. Whiz Kid, stood up from his rockin chair saying, “I’ll be back in a while and a half.” Bumfusled, I asked, “How long is a while?” He sed, “Just a while.” I still being off track asked, “How long is a half while?” He sed, “Just exactly half as long as a whole while.” Seeing I weren’t gitten nowhere fast, I changed the subject. We talked about fishen. He uses chicken guts and mullet guts for bait. Them Channel Catfish loves both of them.

Talking about good things to eat, I got a call from Swine Time saying the chittlins were done and ready. Good lord willing and I’m able, I’ll put away some come the Saterday after Thanksgiving. One feller sed there was a feller one time who had lied so much til he had to have the next door neighbor to call his hogs.

Mr. M.O. Shierling of Thomasville was one of the Perch catchers this week and he and his partner had 35 on a very windy day.

Jim Merrett along with “Block” Ice had 2 limits one day. Some 45 was taken fishen Jigs alone. Most of the above were ones that had to be filleted out to cook.

I, myself, Breadman and Ole Red, my Red Ranger took to the water. I was like some preachers, I had had a calling to go to a certen grass bed, and I had a craven to go, so we went. Sho-nuff them Black Bass was on one side and the Hybreds was on the other. The bed was of the stumps at the Devil’s Den Springs.

I was throwen a Chartruse Spinner Bait with a Willow Leaf Blade to match. First fish hit me was our Dink, bout 1 ½ lbs. The next one the Breadman caught, bout 3 lbs. and landed. He was fishen 8 lbs. test in grass. He put it up and changed to Top Water. He didn’t do too well on that. I then hit a 4 and a 6 and a 7 lbs. Bass. Them Hybreds was taken Shad and busting all around us and we never got one to hit. We came home smilen though.

Mr. Gossett was over in the Creek and took a nice stringer of Bass over there. Others were taken on Plastic and Jerk Baits.

The Chattahoochee folks tell us that Bream and Crackers are still on beds in the lower lake. Worms and crickets do the most good on them.

We are not on a political stump, however, one mite remember, Japan has not threatened us since WWII, the German Nazi party has not tried to harm America, nor Castro since the Granada Invasion, Kaddafi has held a low profile since we took the war to him, Saddam Hussain is ready to bargen and he has nuthin to bargen. Not one American life has been lost on American soil since 9-11-2001! We’ve lost soldiers over there and precious lifes they were. One of our own in Decatur County. Once they know you’ll come after them on their land, they think a bit more. Tis better to fight wars on foreign soil than to fight it on ours.

----------Vote your convictions, but Vote!------------

Maybe we still got it ...
