Seminole Ramlin's October 10, 2004 I declare it seems like in any direction you go, road construction is so great they’ll start handing out hard hats to wave as you pass the sites. The rusty red color that was coming down the Flint most likely was caused by the huge tank that exploded and hurt a man in Bainbridge. There was 940 tons of chemicals in the tank that had to be washed with water until it all dissolved. This process moved it into a ditch and all the way to the Flint River. The odor is very similar to a sewage discharge. I hope it will clear up now and just be a lite choclate color. The B.F.L. tournement was a great success here on the lake. 108 boats left at safe daylite on Thursday. The sad thing about this day was that someone fished near the Indian Mound. All the contestants use cell phones to keep up with the weigh-in times. His phone picked up a tower in Florida and he was one hour late getting to the scales where he and his partner had to throw back near 30lbs. of Bass. Near 900 pounds of Bass was taken the first day and 98.9% of these were released alive to be caught another day. This was because of the big pontoon boat furnished for this tournament. The second day was a little worse for the fishermen. The high winds slowed down the ketchin. A total of 27 limits were taken both days with a survival rate of 98.9% due to the release boat going to the channel of the river to release them. One Spotted Bass was in the second days catch. The 4 divisions of the Walmart B.F.L. (formerly the Red Man), the Piedmont, the Gator, the Bama and the Mississippi, should have sent 30 boats each. Due to the hurricane, lots of them were unable to come, but life has to go on. In 2006, the payback for this tournament will be $1 million. They will hold 2 tournaments here in 2005. B.A.S.S. will hold 2 one-day tournaments out of Wingates in 2005. This is the Circle of Roses of the B.F.L. 1904 as they say at the Kentucky Derby. Ed Getty of Stevenson, AL, had 38.3 lbs. of Bass in three days fishing on the anglers side to win a Chevy Truck, a fully rigged Ranger Boat, motor and trailer. Jay Trudell of Boca Raton, FL had 20.13 lbs. of Bass on the co-anglers side to win a certificate for a Ranger Boat of his choice of colors. Arnie Lane of Lakeland, FL had 33.2 lbs. to win $5000 take home money. His co-angler, Scott Burch of Angier, NC got a check for $2500. He was of the Piedmont Division. Angler Robert Beaty of Clermont, FL got a check for $2500 for 32.10 lbs. in the Gator Division. His co-angler, Calvin Boyette from Wesley Chapel, FL, weighed in 19.9 lbs. to receive a check for $1250. Angler Phillip Daniel from Roanoke, AL with the Bama Division brought in 29.13 lbs. to receive a $2000 check. Phillip Eakes from Bahama, NC with the Piedmont Division brought in 18.1 lbs. to receive a check for $1000. Mike McDonald from Randleman, NC with the Piedmont Division weighed in 26.14 lbs. to receive a check of $1500 for his reward. Chuck Hyer of the Gator Division in Clermont, FL weighed in 17.6 lbs. to take a check for $750. Ed Williams from Jackson, MS weighed in 21.13 lbs. to take a check for $1100. He’s from the Mississippi Division. Sammy Mitchell of Russellville, AL with the Bama Division had 14.15 lbs. to receive a check for $550. The last 2 co-anglers failed to catch a fish the last 2 days. It reminded me of the 1st Smith Lake Tournament I was in. I had a ton of fish on the 1st day, “0” on the second day, finished 3 on the 3rd day. Fishen is what it says, not ketchen. Bream has been very good most days this week as the Stephanie and Tiffany photo shows.
