Seminole Ramlin's March 7, 2004 This past week was the week of the average Bass Fishermans “go gittem” time. One such boat had a nine pounder and two at five lbs. each. The same day, another same such Fishermen boated a ten pounder that was two big for his live well so he weighed him on his scales and turned her aloose. It would be hard to turn your biggest Bass ever and not mount him, but he did. A small Bream bed was located and some two hundred caught. No one fished it the second day because of the wind. We think by the 20th of the month, if the water temp stays at 64°, we mite see the Shellcrackers scrub the bottom of the Lake clean trying to bed. We have a few good catches of Specks taken this week, the best so far is by Mr. Beaver, father of the two Beaver brothers. He brought in 26 in one catch and went back for more the next day. They are laying eggs on the grass and they are eating a lot of Grass Shrimp. My thanks to the Bainbridge Bass and the Lady Bass Club of Tallahassee and Quincy for putting on the eighth Jack Wingate Open Tournement. The Po Boys BBQ at Wingate family (the Wilson’s) sponsored the one day event that drew 83 boats. The most 5 Fish limits we have seen in a long time was caught today with 63 limits. Anybody got any extra good-luck charms need to send them to Jerry Simmons of Seminole County. He culled near 5 limits of Fish and was one place out of the money. Greg Gaston, the horse shoe’er from Thomasville wound his rain-suit cord up into his reel during the rain storm and had to overhand the 2nd biggest Fish of the Tournement at 8.02 lbs. It’s tough luck to be in a Tournement paying 16 places, you with 18 lbs. and don’t get a check. 15 limits above 20 lbs. came in. The team of Shane Bush and Greg Reynolds of Bonafay, FLA won the event with 24.81, Alan Lamb, local carpenter contractor won Big Fish with 9.8 lbs. Many thanks to all.
