Seminole Ramlin's July 4 , 2004 Ft. Michael, AL, a very historical place in the early 1800’s, lays downstream from Phenix City, AL and Columbus, GA had it’s share of barrooms, roadhouses and inns even back then. Now that Ft. Benning jist south of Columbus is in full swing, the provost marshel of Ft. Benning is still having to put some inns, barrooms and roadhouses off limits for the soldiers, so there ain’t much changed in the soldiering bizness in near 200 years at Ft. Mitchell and Ft. Benning. I have to remind folks again on Lake Seminole, the alligators are getting overly friendly. Some dogs have been eaten in the Spring Creek area. I myself have not seen them eating a dog, but I have seen 2 grown deer gobled up by gators. It is mating season and they do some strange things in a period of time. My grandsons 2 cats became very sick 3 or 4 weeks ago. They mean a lot to them and I was sure they would die any minute, but slowly they got better. A friend of mine, J. Wayne Parrish gave me the ansure to the sickness. When locusts sheds and leaves his hull attached to a tree, for some reason cats love to eat the hulls. In the hulls is a poison that makes the cat very very sick and often times kill them. For you folks living near the water, in an area where eucalyptus trees grow next to the water, pay attention, there is a fungus or like matter that gets into your lungs off this tree and slowly kills the lungs, check it out. The Willow Flies are out in force along the banks of the Flint. Many good catches were made and I expect more to be made as the summer heats up. There is some on beds that are biting. Mr. Heard had some folks taken biguns on Willow Flies as bait. That Willow Fly will catch anything and so will the small Grass Shrimp. Hybreds came on the schooling top water phase this last week. Many were seen and a lot caught. Pop-R is a good lure and a Lite Silver or White Spoon is OK also. Now for the hard core Bass Fisherman. The Bass is a tough nut to crack in this heat. However, we think it can be done with a little bit of work. Ryan Hill of Tallahassee landed him a 6 lb. Bass Friday and Saturday. Jay Davis took an 8 lb. Bass with their secret bait.
