Seminole Ramlin's February 22, 2004 We see today young men and young ladies makin big bucks in the real estate bizniss. This is great, however, one must look at the first real estate man in our area. Mr. John Forbes of Cuba had a land grant from the King of Spain for the entire shoreline from Destin to the mouth of the Appalachicola River. He then bought 1.2 acres of land from the natives for 5 cents per acre reaching from St. Vincent Island to near the town of Quincy, Fla. west of the Ocklochnee River. When Mr. Forbes died it took 100 years of Court proceedings which took away his Spanish land grant and left his family members deeply in debt. One must be careful because a lawsuit lasting 100 years will get rite expensive. The Perch Fishen has done real well for some folks and sorry as all git out for most. One Bass Fisherman pulled out a Whopper at 3.4 lbs. on a Crank Bait. The Ladies Trail WBFL, down on the Big River at White City was a two day affair with Betty Stahl of Guntersville, Ala. Winning with 21.22 total. Mrs. Sarah Johnson was 12th, Pam Martin Wells was 15th. Those were on the Pro Side. On the Am Side, Charlene Harris of Sneeds finished 11th. The Bulldog Division of BFL has been coming to Seminole for 24 years. They put on a very good tournament and draw a big crowd with 400 Fishermen on the Lake. On the Boater Side, Frank Jordan, Jr. of Bainbridge finished 14th, Felton Langley of Lafayette, Ala. Finished 3rd with 18-11, David Johnson of Marianna was 2nd with 20-3, Terry Stevens also of Marianna laid 5 Fish on the scales at 30-7 lbs. of Bass. On the Co-Angler side, Taylor Williams of Quincy finished 19th with 1 Big Fish, then Ashley Brents of Thomasville placed 6th, Frank Key of Columbus, GA was 3rd with 9-14, George Goodman, Jr. of Monticello, GA was 2nd with 16-2. But Hummer Hawg Man of Pelham, GA laid a cool 25-1 on the scales. These Fish came on a Big Lizard. Roger Morrow of Griffen, GA had a Big Fish of 8-11. The “Fishermen for the Hungry” will launch at “Safe Daylight” next Saterday. $160.00 with a $2000.00 1st Place garnteed. Contact Dewey Mitchell 229-273-0579 after 6pm.
